Audio/Visual & Multi-Media
Bring your geo-story to life with charts, graphs, slideshows, video, voiceovers, and other rich media elements. Media features can be selected directly by the user, or linked to other geo-story events to create a multi-media presentation.

Each chapter or subchapter loads a set of images, audio, or video clips that appear in the media window. Users choose images from an icon menu in the current interface. ES v3.0 will allow you to activate media elements off of other user actions, drawing attention to special features within the flow of the story.

Guidelines
The EARTHscope supports most common graphic, audio, and video formats (see content specifications for details) but practical considerations demand using only those elements that best support and round out your presentation:

  1. Download Time: The ES is optimized to load elements as needed, rather than forcing the user to wait while the entire geo-story loads. Still, user patience is a big consideration -- use the smallest files possible. CD and kiosk formats can minimize this issue.
  2. Hardware Limits: User computer speeds and memory limit how much can be included before the presentation starts to slow down.
  3. Story Telling: Graphics and sound should support your story, not distract from it. ES is designed as an antidote for information overload, letting people focus on the most important information. A few well-chosen pictures can be more effective than an entire photo album in communicating your message.
